FEED THE HUNGER

Posted by The Catered Team On July 4 2008

John 6.35 "Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'"
We're all hungry. We were created with a hunger that needs to be satisfied. You might have lived your whole life trying to satisfy it with all kinds of things. Jesus, after feeding thousands of people with food gave us insight to this hunger we have inside. And he said he is the answer. At Catered, we are pursuing God through Christ and learning how to live life to the full -- a life full of meaning and purpose. Want to come?

Hebrews Study Sheets: Weeks 1-4

Posted by Kris D. On April 13, 2011 9:49 PM
During our study of Hebrews, each week we're handing out sheets with questions on them to help you work through and consider the upcoming passages. Our hope is that these will help you dig deeper than if you simply read the text.
If you sometimes read a passage and think "huh, not sure what else to say about that passage" then hopefully these questions will prompt you ask questions about the text, and to look at the passage in different ways. Also, some of these are hard questions that are really good food for conversation when you meet up with other Catered people during the week. Work through one or two questions while you're hanging out at Starbuck's.
Seriously, consider how your conversation there will not only help you understand what God would like to teach you in Hebrews, but also consider how that conversation will spur on the people around you as they listen to you wrestle with truth and find the glory of a huge, majestic, glorified Christ.

So, here are the sheets we've used so far. If you've missed a week, I'd encourage you to grab these and use them to help you dig into the passage that you missed.

Hebrews Study Questions, week 1
Hebrews Study Questions, week 2
Hebrews Study Questions, week 3
Hebrews Study Questions, week 4

Live intentional, grow for God's glory. See you Thursday at 7:30 PM.

  1. Christy Said,

Ok, so after Catered last night talking about the builder and the house I looked it up ;)
House is the same word for both household (ie the house of Abraham) and home/abode.

The word for builder is Kataskeuazo
    Definition
to furnish, equip, prepare, make ready
of one who makes anything ready for a person or thing
of builders, to construct, erect, with the included idea of adorning and equipping with all things necessary

NAS Word Usage - Total: 11
    builder 2, built 1, construction 1, prepare 3, prepared 4

3 of the gospels use this word to refer to John the Baptist "preparing" the way for Jesus. It is also used to refer to Noah constructing/preparing the ark

  2. It's kinda cool to see that John the Baptist, was builder... a preparer, a MESSENGER. And God(the Builder), thru Jesus brought a message. really crazy use of the world in so may categories right there.

  3. Courtney Said,

Hmmm That is really interesting. Thanks for sharing that Cristy! :D

  4. Courtney Said,

Here are some other references to "building houses" or "homes/households" that don't use the same words, but I wondered if the concepts/analogies would be related or could be tied together.
    Eph 2
    Luke 9:58
    Matt 7
    John 14:2
